Special Screening and Discussion of "The Public"

The OPHC and the Oak Park Public Library (OPPL) sponsored a screening of Emilio Estevez's new film, The Public, starring Alec Baldwin, Emilio Estevez, Ryhmefest, Taylor Schilling and Christian Slater. The film centers around a group of homeless individuals that occupy the public library during a polar vortex, leading to a standoff with police. This event served as a fundraiser for the Jim Madigan Staff Education Fund at the OPPL and the Sojourner House transitional housing program via Housing Forward and the Oak Park Housing Authority. With the help of our community members, we sold over 170 tickets and raised over $2500. Thank you for your contributions and your help toward making homelessness in Oak Park rare, brief and one-time!
