Important Housing Forward Announcement
A lot has happened in the past few weeks and in the past few days. Due to the COVID-19 public heath, economic and mental health crisis, we have all been moving to stay safe and help people in our community.
We have seen a tremendous response from the community, from government and from businesses. Thank you for all you have been doing.
We have three key updates for you:
1. A Housing Forward staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. Team members and volunteers who may have had direct contact with the individual last week have been instructed to follow the CDC guidelines, which includes self-quarantine for 14 days and monitoring for symptoms.
The employee is at home recuperating. At this point we are not aware of any other team members or shelter clients who have the virus or are exhibiting symptoms.
2. The Housing Forward 24/7 shelter was closed as of Sunday afternoon. All clients experiencing homelessness have been placed in hotels in the area for the next 30 days.
3. During this time, in person volunteering is on hold, but supplies can still be donated here and monetary donations can be made here to continue to support the work of Housing Forward.
We will continue to keep you updated. Please email John Harris at jharris@a5inc.com or call 708.227.5313 if you want to discuss the work of the Oak Park Homelessness Coalition.
Thank you all!
